Women in Fund Finance is pleased to hold the second Wit & Wisdom Series meeting of 2022 connecting senior women in the fund finance industry with junior members for intimate breakfast discussions.

Wit & Wisdom is open to female members of Women in Fund Finance with at least two years of experience working in the fund finance industry and are not Managing Directors, Partners or C-suite executives.

Join hosts Liz Tabas Carson (Sidley Austin LLP) and Annabella Kwei (Stifel Bank), to discuss careers in venture investing and current industry trends. They will be joined by Stephanie Campbell (The Artemis Fund), Olga Yermolenko (OY Group), and Amie Patel (Elevar Equity).

Stephanie Campbell was born and raised in Mobile, Alabama and is the eldest daughter to a single mother

of three. Stephanie’s work ethic allowed her to overcome tremendous obstacles and this is core to her

beliefs around the importance of economic mobility and building wealth. Fun fact, Stephanie had 13 jobs

between high school and college graduation, put herself through college and moved to DC with $800 in

her pocket.

Stephanie is now the co-founder and General Partner of The Artemis Fund. She is also the Managing

Director of the Houston Angel Network (HAN), one of the most active angel networks in the country.

While at HAN, Stephanie has grown the membership by 200%. Stephanie has developed a reputation as a

leader throughout the Houston Innovation community. As a result, she's frequently tapped by senior

leaders in Houston to spearhead high profile initiatives for the City. Stephanie serves on the board of

Houston Exponential (HX) and the Rice Business Partners.

Prior to moving to Houston to pursue her MBA from Rice University, Stephanie worked as a government

relations associate at the Washington, DC lobbying firm Potomac Partners DC. She served clients in the

transportation and infrastructure industries as well as assisted public municipalities navigate federal

education, housing, and healthcare policy. She also served as an executive recruiter for the roles of Chief

Security Officer and CIO for the fortune 500, hedge funds, and investment firms during and shortly after

business school.

Stephanie has a bachelor of science in Political Science from Spring Hill College and an MBA from the

Rice University Graduate School of Business.

Annabella Kwei heads up North East originations at Stifel Bank’s Venture and Fund Banking Group. Annabella provides private equity and venture capital firms with various financing solutions, such as subscription lines, management company lending and GP capital commitment finance. She also provides venture debt to portfolio companies.

Annabella has over six years of experience in fund finance and is a member of Fund Finance Association’s Women in Fund Finance Committee, Next Gen Committee and Marketing Committee. She holds an accelerated B.A.-M.A. degree from Barnard College and Columbia University.

ELIZABETH TABAS CARSON represents alternative lenders, investors, asset managers, hedge funds, traditional banks, and investment banks, as well as corporate borrowers, financial sponsors and their portfolio companies on a wide range of complex domestic and cross-border leveraged finance and special situations transactions. Liz has extensive experience in structuring and negotiating private financings, fund financings, secured and unsecured lending transactions, cash flow and asset-based leverage facilities, merger and acquisition financings, mezzanine and second lien financings, debt restructurings and workouts, recapitalizations, SPAC and de-SPAC support transactions, private debt, and financings of alternative assets, including structuring financings and liquidity solutions for investment funds and asset managers, public and private companies, and not-for-profit institutions.

Liz’s practice focuses on distressed debt, regulated and complex debt offerings in private and public markets with a particular focus on asset managers, healthcare, life sciences, technology, intellectual property, concentrated NAV financings, and other transactions involving regulated and esoteric asset classes. She has in-depth experience with deals of all sizes, from bi-lateral domestic financings and “club” deals for emerging growth and middle-market companies to more broadly syndicated credit facilities for large publicly traded companies, as well as private sponsor-owned businesses with cross-border operations. Liz’s recent notable fund finance experience includes the representation of a major asset manager on a NAV financing for one of its investment grade funds with assets including control and non-control investments in credit funds and private equity direct and secondary investments, and of a direct lender in connection with its NAV financing for a Canadian asset manager with primary and secondary investments in a variety of credit, private equity and venture investments.

Liz has been recognized by several industry publications, including IFLR 1000 (2020-2021) and Chambers USA (2021-2022).
